In December of 2019, Dr. Li Wenliang went to social media and reported a "SARS-like" virus at a Wuhan Seafood Market. The Chinese Government harassed him into silence and Dr. Li Wenliang would eventually succumb to the coronavirus.
99.999% of Americans had no idea of the crisis percolating in China. The map below is the top Google searches for December 31, 2019.

Which brings us to today. Today, CNN reports that scientists are imploring the government to impose Shutdown Version 2.0.
I am telling you right now, my personal opinion on the topic doesn't matter. The fact is that a shutdown is not going to happen on a National Level.
The rioters keep saying social justice is more important than the coronavirus. Which dominos to the business community which says that the economy is more important than the coronavirus. Which dominos to the churches which say that religion is more important than the coronavirus. Which dominos to the self-centered, which say that if everyone else is going out, they are going out, too.

If you want to do a State Lockdown, that's fine. No protestors, no casinos, no churches, no non-essential businesses. Shut everything down except for essential to society businesses.* If you're going to make exceptions, just leave things open. You need to commit to a War-Time Effort.
The American People are obviously not up for a War-Time Response.
As Google searches show, they just aren't.
During the first lockdown in the Spring, I was scheduled to have a gas leak fixed in my front yard. The date of repair came and went, so I called the gas company to ask what was up.
Columbia Gas said that they had furloughed most of their staff and that since I had a "low priority gas leak," they would have to reschedule. I said okay, let's reschedule. They said because it was a minor outdoor leak, they would have to wait until after the pandemic to give me a date.
Also had problems with my internet provider Windstream, who ignored multiple emails. When I called the help line, there was a language barrier issue. I kept asking for a tech to come to my home, the overseas tech consultant kept telling me to unplug, then re-plug in my router.
Which I had done about 2 dozen times before I called. Neither issue is solved 3 months later and counting.
