Why I Will Be DEFENDING the Gulf of America

When I first heard that Donald Trump wanted to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, I laughed. I thought it was a joke and surely Trump had better things to do with his time.

As the Gulf of America started to show up on maps, I chuckled quietly, alright, alright, you poked the Left in the eyes, we all got a good laugh, now change it back.

Then, like a bolt from the blue, I saw this simple meme:

Now it's a hostage negotiation.

You can have the Gulf of Mexico back:

  1. When the Cleveland Baseball Team reverts back to the Indians.

  2. When the Washington Football Team reverts back to the Redskins.

  3. When Uncle Ben is back on the box of rice.

  4. When Sacagawea is back on the Land O' Lakes box.

  5. When the University of North Dakota reverts back to the Fighting Sioux.

  6. When Quinnipiac reverts back to the Braves.

  7. When Disney+ removes the warning disclaimer from Fantasia.

  8. When streaming outlets can show all the episodes of Clutch Cargo or Bugs Bunny.

In every instance above, I argued that Free Speech dictated that names and logos stayed the same. I was called out-of-touch, a hatemonger, and racist.

With one swipe of the pen, changing one simple word from Mexico to America, Donald Trump is being called weak, petty, and in the minority.

That's funny. When local website cleveland.com argued that they wouldn't run a poll to see whether the Indians nickname should be changed, it should be changed because "it was the right thing to do," it didn't matter what the majority wanted.

I don't know if Donald Trump purposely changed the name to the Gulf of America for symbolic reasons, but I'll tell you what, he illustrated perfectly the folly of name changes.

I think the guttural reactions are hysterical.
