The mean Colorado Supreme Court won't let Donald Trump on the presidential primary ballot.
Michigan and California are thinking about following suit.
-Wait, Maine just cut Trump off the ballot.-
--Wait, wait, Trump may be back on the Colorado ballot.--
Republicans are furious.
The smirking Democrats chirp that "the law is the law."
Fred Hunt at Beacon of Speech laughs.
Just 2 years ago, we suggested: De-Platform Political Parties.
Republicans howl that democracy itself is under attack because Trump's ballot access is being blocked.
Democrats howl that democracy itself is under attack because an insurgent is allowed on the ballot.
It wasn't that long ago that fugitive John McAfee tried to run for president in absentia. John McAfee famously said this right before he went to jail "if I suicide myself, I didn't, I was whacked...All power corrupts, take care which powers you allow a democracy to wield." Was McAfee blocked from running for president? No more than any other third party candidate. If McAfee wasn't accused of murder, the press probably wouldn't have covered him at all.
Nobody today is talking about McAfee as a martyr. Third parties have been blocked voter access for a century, and in a time of two politicians with record low approval ratings, somehow third parties can't get any traction. Democrats and Republicans portray themselves as victims of each others' attacks, but both parties have had a stranglehold on the process for 170 years. They are two giant corporations who guarantee results. 99.8% of nationwide offices are held by Democrats or Republicans. This Trump business is just more party politics.
There are no guarantees for the existence of Political Parties in the Constitution.
George Washington considered political parties the bane of the government, only to be helpful in monarchies. Thomas Jefferson said that true patriots understood that the country should triumph over party. Thomas Paine's political party? None.
Let's say that you think that Joe Biden is the best president ever. (He's not, but please work with me here.) If you really wanted to save democracy from Trump, you could do something abut it RIGHT NOW.
When the Republican Primary comes to your state, you could switch parties and vote for Nikki Haley. If enough people did that, Trump wouldn't even be on the presidential ballot. He wouldn't be at the debates. The problem is, what happens if Haley turns Biden inside-out in the debates? Well, then your plan just backfired for your guy.
The Democrats swear that they hate Trump, but they secretly love him. Their philosophy has consistently been using Trump as the Boogeyman to scare the voters. The crazier the things that Trump says, the more Democrats lap that shit up. In theory, any candidate should be able to stop Crazy ol' Trump? Why are the Democrats so enamored with Biden?
Democrats fear a lucid, young candidate. Everything else is just theater.
Liz Cheney says Trump is a lunatic, but is she running third party to stop him? No.
Joe Biden says Trump is a lunatic, but is he committed to debating him in the arena of ideas? Live? No. Biden is trying to weasel out of the debates.
I don't like Robert Kennedy Jr., but over Christmas, Suffolk University had him polling at 10%. Imagine Democrats blocking Trump from ballots, then blocking Kennedy from debates. If Biden wins re-election, it is feasible that his party blocked all avenues of opposition.
Including within the Democrat Party. Gavin Newsom obviously thinks he'd make a good candidate for president, he acts like he's running right now.
Biden's aura should exude confidence. He should walk up to the podium and project at the top of his lungs:
"I have done a great job as president. I will take on all comers! Let Trump run, I'll beat that Felon! Gavin Newsom? I welcome his challenge in the primaries, America approves of my steady hand. Robert Kennedy? I am friends with the Kennedys! Robert Jr. is a kook. No one will do a better job than me in 2024! NO ONE!"
But Biden doesn't do that. Handlers shuffle him around and hide him from the cameras.
This is America, no one 'deserves' to be president. At 80, Joe Biden shouldn't have his path cleared for re-election. Getting a Lifetime Achievement Award for being a loyal member of the Democrat Party shouldn't translate into automatic re-election.
If all other candidates' ideas are deemed "too dangerous" for the country by the Democrats, haven't we lost the Democratic Process already?
If Trump is a Womanizing, Neurotic, Entitled, Nazi, he should be really easy to beat-
RIGHT?
While I was putting the finishing touches on this article. President Biden started bombing Yemen.
Earlier this week, Trump said his lawyer interpreted the law in such a way that he believed that it was legal for Trump to assassinate his enemies. The American Press screamed that Trump was a menace and unhinged.
But it only took less than a week for Biden to prove Trump right. We didn't declare war on Yemen, the President bombed his enemies.
Even though it wasn't a perfect analogy, the President bombs lots of people without support from Congress. And though I don't agree with Trump's interpretation of the law, I at least concede that he has point as we continue to bomb Eastern Yemen.
Just a reminder: Who approved that?
Supreme Court? No.
Congress? No.
The President? Yes. The President bombed his enemies.
But let me be clear, if a Houthi shoots at an American ship and we warn them to stop, and they keep doing it, I have no problem with American Armed Forces shooting back.
I think we'll give Reason Magazine the last word:
