I liked Ron Paul, but Rand Paul is too close to the Republican Blue Bloods for my liking. So last week, U.S. Senator Rand Paul called out Richard Marx (?!?), yes that Richard Marx, for, well, here's the quote that angered Paul from Variety:
“I’ll say it again: If I ever meet Rand Paul’s neighbor I’m going to hug him and buy him as many drinks as he can consume.” Marx was referring to a 2017 incident in which Paul’s neighbor pled guilty to assaulting a member of Congress after an apparently non-political dispute that left the senator with broken ribs.
Wow, a twitter battle between a life-long politician and horrible 80's pop star. Somehow, it's Paul that looks bad. Paul blames Marx for a random citizen sending him fake Anthrax in the mail. Which is a reach.
[There are no good Richard Marx songs. Zero. This is the closest thing to a tolerable song that I could post.]
At the same time, U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez keeps screeching to anyone that will listen that she almost died at the January 6th Capitol Riots (she did not) and is being bullied by another member of Congress. (Really?)
Why do I NOT give the benefit to the doubt to either Paul on the Right or Ocasio-Cortez on the Left? Because at the Daily Mail, I just read about the 88th politician murdered in Mexico in the last year. 88th!
According to the Daily Mail, Alma Barragan was campaigning in the city of Moroleon, in Mexico, when she announced on Facebook Live, "come hear my proposals, come spend a moment together.....I'll wait for you you here." Then the cartels came and assassinated her.
Could you imagine if 88 politicians were assassinated in America over the past year? They'd repeal the 2nd Amendment in about 2 minutes and we'd all be under martial law.
In the past 10 years, there have been 2 significant assassination attempt against Congressmen. In 2011, a gunman shot, and very nearly killed, Congresswoman Gabby Giffords.
And in 2017, a gunman shot up a Congressional Softball Game.
You know how many Congressmen were wounded during the January Capitol Riot? No matter how many congresspersons THOUGHT they were in danger, that number would be zero.
The level of violence in America simply isn't the level of violence in Mexico or Central America. It just isn't. You want to know how bad it is in Central America? Read about the story of Congresswoman Norma Torres.
Quite frankly I am tired of the political theater of both Paul and Ocasio-Cortez.
Ironically, in 2012, Rand Paul wrote a book called Government Bullies: How Everyday Americans are being Harassed, Abused, and Imprisoned by the Feds. I invite him to name his next book Fred Hunt is a Whiner.
Then I'll write a new article on Beacon of Speech: Takes One to Know One....
Yeah, I'm done for now.
Editor's Note: About half way through the article, I lost my mojo. I went to YouTube and was looking for a good, new album to listen to in the background. I came across King Gizzard & Lizard Wizard's 2020 release Teenage Gizzard. It's a really good album that I highly recommend. But it's not new in the truest sense, it's an album of outtakes and rarities from 2010-2011.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard's outtakes are better than most bands' albums.
Which depressed me more and caused me to stop writing for the night.
