Practice Wars

Rush Limbaugh didn't want the U.S. Army to be an agent for social change. Gay rights, transgender rights, the fat acceptance movement, none of that belonged in the Army according to Limbaugh. An Army, in principle, has two very simple jobs:

  • Kill People

  • Break Stuff

And, though overly simplistic, Limbaugh was fundamentally correct. Over the last hundred years, the U.S. Armed Services has stuck its nose into everyone's business, from Somalia, to Grenada, to Yemen, to Haiti. We didn't care about any of those countries, we used those countries as grounds for practice wars. What were we practicing for? World War III. Is World War III at our doorstep? It's hard to tell. If we fight China, we're in big trouble, we don't have enough troops. If we fight North Korea....

Funny thing about North Korea, what do you know about their Army? I know their ceiling is Iraq in 1988. Saddam Hussein had battled to a draw in the Iran-Iraq War and had its eye on Saudi Arabia. In 1990, Iraq gobbled up tiny Kuwait with its nearly non-existent army. Saudi Arabia was convinced that they were next and then tricked the Americans into fighting for them. By mid-1990, America was up against Iraq's "elite" Republican Guard.

The U.S. Army won that little war in a landslide. Iraqi soldiers couldn't surrender fast enough and the American Coalition barely faced resistance until their soldiers reached the outskirts of Bagdad. The only thing that stopped the US was outcry from the international community that they were winning too easily. But 30+ years later, Iraq still exists, with nearly identical borders as in 1988.

Which circles us back to North Korea. North Korea desperately wants to scare South Korea into thinking that they have a world class army. So Kim Jong-Un sent a couple of thousand troops over to Ukraine's Eastern Front to help out the Russians.

It has been reported in the British press that the newly arrived North Korean Soldiers have:

  • Accidentally shot at the Russians.

  • Become addicted to the Internet, specifically porn.

  • And are dying at an unprecedented rate.

Ukraine doesn't even have to shoot North Korean soldiers. All they have to do is drop some pamphlets that say: Surrender now, gain South Korean Citizenship. All it would take is a couple of dozen North Koreans being captured by Ukraine, and then sent over to South Korea for normal lives, for Kim Jung-Un to stop sending troops to Russia.

And for Kim Jung-Un to look like an idiot.

If North Korea wants its troops to fight proxy wars like the United States and Russia, they best feed and train their army better.

There are only 2 armies today fighting for their country's very existence. Israel and Ukraine. Everything else in the world is a practice war.
