According to Music Diva Lizzo:
What the hell is she talking about?
Lizzo is 34 years old, her lifetime has been filled with Black Pop Artists, she broke no racial barriers in her career. NONE.
Don't believe me?
Troy Smith, writer at cleveland.com, enumerated the Biggest Pop Star in the World, by Year, Since 1979. Instead of arguing with Smith's list, like we usually do, we are going to take him at his word because we HATE pop music. Hey, casual reader, you starting to see a pattern yet? I sure do. Pop mostly sucks. In 2018, I made a list of the Top 150 Songs of All Time. Number of pop songs on that list? ONE. 1973's The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia by Vicky Lawrence.
I HATE POP, but pop artists like Michael Jackson are omnipresent in our culture. Even if I don't like Michael Jackson, I am well aware of his work.
Let's get back to the business at hand.
2000 - Christina Aguilera - Woman

Alright, alright, the article was published in 2019, so you get the gist.
Why isn't anyone calling Lizzo out for patently false statements? What's her angle for even making such outlandish claims?
One of the biggest pop hits of 2020 was WAP by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion. It was so brazen, even Madonna wouldn't have been able to get away with it. WAP wasn't some obscure song, it was a #1 hit with a half a billion views on YouTube.
Lizzo can't even say she was the first Black / Woman / Plus Size Pop Singer with a number one hit, that would be Aretha Franklin. Surely Lizzo has heard the song RESPECT, #1 single on the singles charts from an album that peaked at #2 on the albums chart.
So even if Lizzo's argument is "every record company is looking for the next Taylor Swift."
