So yesterday, outgoing President Joe Biden gave the Presidential Medal of Freedom to 19 "Citizens."
Let's review why the 19 Americans got their medals:
Hillary Clinton - Political Reasons
George Soros - Political Reasons
Robert F. Kennedy (posthumous) - Political Reasons
Michael J. Fox - I would agree with this medal. Fox has worked hard for Parkinson's Research.
Denzel Washington - He's a good actor.
Lionel Messi - Inexplicable. I love Messi, but he has done nothing for his American Soccer club, Inter Miami, except to collect a paycheck. Messi was supposedly 'honored,' but was out of the country for the ceremony. Would like to collect his medal 'next time he's in America.' Really a farce.
Earvin “Magic” Johnson - Beloved Basketball personality.
José Andrés - Chef and Humanitarian
Bono - Famous musician and Humanitarian.
Ashton B. Carter (posthumous) - Political Reasons
Tim Gill - Political Reasons
Jane Goodall - Animal Research
Fannie Lou Hamer (posthumous) - Political Reasons
Ralph Lauren - Political Reasons
Bill Nye - "Science"
George W. Romney (posthumous) - Political Reasons
David M. Rubenstein - Political Reasons
George Stevens Jr. - Political Reasons
Anna Wintour - Elitism?
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not naive, the Presidential Medal of Freedom has long been a Popularity Contest, but this year, it was overtly given to either Loyal Democrats, or people who poured a ton of money into the Democrat coffers. Why the urgency to give George Soros a medal? He might not be alive when the next Democrat assumes office.
Yes, there were some outliers, like popular athletes Magic Johnson and Lionel Messi, but mostly politics as usual.
This occurred only a week after Joe Biden set a record for most pardons and commutations for an out-going president in American history. Most were politically related, including a historic blanket pardon for his son that covered anything he "may or may not have done" over a 10-year period.
Remember how mute the mainstream media was yesterday when everyone on their Democrat team got their participation trophies. Next year, when Donald Trump gives out his awards to his billionaire friends like Elon Musk and his favorite wrestlers like Hulk Hogan, the media will howl about all of the underserving recipients. Undeserving, because their "team" won't get any.
Joe Biden was not a good president by any metric. His last month in office was symbolic because it was loaded with political paybacks and unpopular push-throughs.
But I'll tell you what, Joe Biden will be remembered as a good Democrat. A good "team-player." In the end, was he better for our country, or better for his party?
You're screaming about how terrible Donald Trump is?
Listen, Trump is going to come into office and pardon all those January 6th guys and the press is going to go crazy. They are going to go through that list with a fine-toothed comb, saying what a mistake it is to let criminals loose on our streets.
And next year, when Trump hangs that Presidential Medal of Freedom around Elon Musk's neck, the media will howl that the Presidential Medal of Freedom should be abolished.
Donald Trump is not going to do anything different, or worse, than what Joe Biden has done in the last month.
Nothing.
