I keep reading that Universities are pushing back against the dismantling of DEI. Why?

If the original "problem" at universities was diversity, then the problem was fixed, what are we doing here?

Uh...
Uh...

You are literally screaming that the problem isn't solved? How do you figure?

  • 60 % of the U.S. population was White.

  • 18 % of the U.S. population was Hispanic.

  • 12 % of the U.S. population was Black.

  • 6 % of the U.S. population was Asian.

  • 0.7% of the U.S. population was American Indian.

The largest gender/ethnic block in America was "31% White Women."

Women make up 51% of America.

I live in Northeast Ohio, the biggest university in the state is the Ohio State University. You can easily google their demographics.

  • White 61%

  • Asian 9%

  • Black or African American 8%

  • Hispanic or Latino 6%

  • Two or More Races 4%

Women make up 50% of undergraduate students.

What are the demographics of all of the college students in America combined?

  • White 53%

  • Hispanic 21%

  • Black 12 %

  • Asian 4%

  • Two or More Races 2%

Women make up 57% of undergraduate students.

So I'm sure that there are variations from college to college and region to region, but right now, student enrollment mostly mirrors the makeup of the general population.

And that was the goal, right? The government's job isn't to pick winners and losers in the Race Game.

Once you fix the roof on your house, you don't keep fixing it.

Once you fix the leak in your basement, you don't keep fixing it.

The demographics at American Colleges now mirrors American Society.

Problem fixed.

Your reply is still that DEI is forever?

My reply is "what is the right amount of minorities in college?"

What Donald Trump wants is for the government to be out of the Race Game. What do I mean by that?

Let's use the NBA as an example. Back in the 1950's, the NBA was represented with well over 95% White Players, by 1990, the league had evolved to 70% Black Players. That number is remarkably similar to today.

Despite those gains, the Left said the NBA still needed diversity.

In 1996, the league started the WNBA.

The Left said the NBA still needed diversity. Still too many coaches were White.

By 2024, half the league's coaches were Black.

The Left continues to say that the NBA needs more diversity in the Owner's Box and in the Front Offices. Support Staffs still aren't Black enough.

You say the NBA is but one business in America? It is a very visible business that is an example of DEI initiatives that have gone over the top. Between 2020 and 2022 "An eye-opening report from Bloomberg shows (that) companies increased their workforces by 323,000-plus following the George Floyd protests and riots. The surge in hiring was dominated by diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. An eye-opening 94% of new hires could be categorized as “people of color (POC).” Whites – just over 70% of the U.S. population – accounted for only 6% of S&P 100 hires."

Donald Trump doesn't want DEI run amok in government institutions that have taken root in some multi-national corporations.

I'm not saying the NBA needs to be more White, I am saying unchecked DEI tips the balances in the opposite direction.

Using college as an example, wait a decade and see if the numbers hold without government mandates. If they do, great. If they backslide, the government can re-install DEI initiatives later.

Like a roof that wasn't properly fixed.

You say I'm a bad libertarian and that a college's racial makeup shouldn't be tracked at all. It doesn't matter if college racial makeup mirrors the general population.

I will listen to that argument.
