Hate Never Made Any Nation Great: Rebuttal

Since Donald J. Trump was inaugurated; I have seen this cartoon floating around on social media in, at least, a half a dozen places.
Just a reminder, Charles Shultz is dead.
So, what makes a nation great, I ask?
And, secondly, what is hate, exactly?
Let's start with forgiveness.
Back in January, Joe Biden pardoned and commuted the sentences of 2,500 "non-violent offenders." One week later, Donald Trump pardoned and commuted the sentences of 1,500 "criminals."
You see the different takes in quotations from the media? If Joe Biden was a true humanitarian, why didn't he pardon those people at the beginning of his term? Because Joe Biden, as a politician, was about optics. He pardoned those people when there were no personal political ramifications for him.
And inversely, why did Donald Trump pardon his group when he first took office? Because almost all were loyal Trump Supporters. Donald Trump can't run for re-election, he's going to have a more devil-may-care attitude the second time around.
But the pardons and commutations, to me, were a wash. Biden mostly pardoned people he shouldn't have, with a few exceptions, and Trump mostly pardoned people he shouldn't have, with a few exceptions.
You wouldn't have thought that by the press reaction:
(Technically, all pardons subvert the Rule of Law.)
But the worst spin on a, more or less, equal situation, was Rex Huppke's:
As a libertarian-leaning website, we have to spell this out often. We are Pro-Choice, but if you want to have that kid, well, God Bless You.
Editor's Note: Pro-Choice does not mean pro-death. The world is a complicated place kids.
There are a lot of Pro-Lifers out there that would easily retort to Huppke, "Trump's values would be twisted if he KILLED babies." And their logic would be sound. Killing a baby would be worse than denying them citizenship. Huppke's warped Brand of Liberalism doesn't want to hear that argument. I could argue Hate, in the form of the pro-choice movement, killed that baby.
Which circles us back to: Hate Never Made Any Nation Great
You know what makes a America great? Producing goods, fighting for your rights, and free-trade agreements. Because we are a Free Speech website, we would also include concepts such as the free-exchange of ideas and the promoting freedom.
Editor's Note II: We will talk about tariffs on a different day.
But throughout human history, what made nations great was Hate. Almost every dynasty was the will of one entity to dominate and subjugate a smaller or minority population. From the Romans to the Mongols to the British, Empires did not rise and fall based on the concept of "love." There is no empire in human history based on the concept of free love or Kumbaya Chants.
What has happened to the American Empire, is that since the Barack Obama Administration, there has been an active re-defining of the word hate. The far-left has re-defined speech they don't agree with as hate. Americans used to, minimally, tolerate each other with a willingness to move forward, grateful for the freedoms that we all share.
During the Biden Administration, the country lurched even farther left because the minority painted Donald Trump as a boogeyman. Most Americans are average, god-fearing peoples. The far-left, the defund the police/LGBT movement, are in the vast minority whose voices have been over-amplified by the left wing media. They don't want to be pushed back into the shadows by Donald Trump. There is a very clear distinction between de-emphasizing speech and banning speech.
But I'll tell you what, on the flip side of that coin, billionaire voices have been over-amplified by the Trump Administration.
You, me, and about 75% of Americans fall into the silent majority. I can't relate with billionaires, and I can't relate with gay, non-binary, throuples whose primary source of income is through trust funds or Instagram feeds.
What I just said is hateful?
Hateful is killing someone.
Hateful is jailing someone unlawfully.
Hateful is not having a difference of opinion.
What has been going on in America, for a generation now, is that both sides have been choosing winners and losers in the free speech game based on who was in charge. Don't be turned against your neighbor or co-worker by the media or by the government. We all have free speech in the United States of America.
But especially today, you need to be suspicious of what people are selling you.
And that includes me.
