When someone dies, what songs do you think of that should be played at the funeral?
Amazing Grace?
How Great Thou Art?
Swing Low Sweet Chariot? (Maybe in the 1880's)
Not for me.
In my 20's and 30's, I had a side of me that was angry. I wanted this to be my funeral song:
Gave Up - Nine Inch Nails
In my 30's and 40's, I had a side of me that was frustrated. I wanted this to be my funeral song:
Duality - Slipknot
Now in my early 50's, I have a side of me that is simply defeated. I have thought long and hard about it, and now I want this to be my funeral song:
Grind - Alice in Chains
If I live to my 60's (debatable considering certain mystery health issues), this is my #1 choice, (as of now), for my funeral song. When I can't remember anyone's names and I'm just calling random people nicknames (like Dandelion).
When my Aunt Jodi (not her last name) passed away, they played a Sarah McLachian song on a loop. I can't remember if it was that horrible ASPCA Song, or that other horrible Sarah McLauchian song.
Other than that funeral, I don't associate any song specifically to a funeral that I have ever been to.
With the fourth wave of Covid rising, it seems like this last 16 months have been a very dark time. Yes, I got my 2 shots, but they don't protect me from getting hit by a bus.
