CNN is Late to the Free Speech Party

In the Spring, CNN's Peniel E Joseph rolled out with this quote at CNN:

"Conservatives who are defending Rogan with cries of free speech are being disingenuous."

We wrote 4 articles defending Joe Rogan, not because we have any allegiances to Joe Rogan (we don't even have Spotify,) but because the left's whole argument for banning him was that they simply didn't like him.

And that is dangerous free speech territory.

Then, long story short, Twitter banned stories from journalists from CNN, The New York Times, and the Washington Post this week and LO AND BEHOLD, you know what's really important in America? You guessed it, FREE SPEECH!

When Twitter was a leftist paradise, shadow banning and restricting right wing speech, the left wing corporate media said everything was cool, they understood restricting speech that smelled even a smidge like what they termed "hate speech." (Which was basically everything Right of Center.)

Then, when Musk bought the platform, and journalists from CNN et al. started to get banned, the same outlets wanted to lecture the public on Free Speech? Yeah, too late.

Just like right wing voices were forced to flee to Parler, maybe CNN, the New York Times, and the Washington Post can start their own left-leaning social media company. They can call it "Old Twitter."

You think I'm one of those Musk male-groupies? Uh no. We don't like ANY billionaires here at Beacon of Speech. But if you can't see the comedy gold in Musk's Twitter ownership debacle, you just ain't that smart.

Listen, Free Speech really isn't that hard of a concept. Let me give you an example:

Yesterday, my wife asked me "is it possible that Jesus was the first documented schizophrenic?"

I kind of paused as she continued. "I mean one of the symptoms of schizophrenia is delusions, like you're the Son of God-"

Now she continued, but let's stop there because we have laid out our basic concept.

Jesus was a schizophrenic: Free Speech

Jesus was the Son of God: Free Speech

Jesus was not a schizophrenic: Free Speech

Jesus was not the Son of God: Free Speech

I love Jesus: Free Speech

I hate Jesus: Free Speech

Jesus in Art: Free Speech

All right, are we following the concept so far? Okay, let's continue.

Jesus killed Nazis during World War II: That statement is patently false. Now if you're using the statement as hyperbole or comedy? Free Speech.

I love Jesus because he killed Nazis during World War II. Wow, you're really dumb, but right on the very edge of Free Speech.

Jesus didn't exist: Now we are coming close to speech that should be banned. The Historical Jesus existed. You may counter, "if Jesus existed, show me his corpse." Ahhh, touché. Also right on the edge of Free Speech.

Jesus said God Hates Fags: Jesus never used those exact words. Those words are not in the Bible. Now.... did Jesus feel that way? Did he ever get frustrated and mumble those sentiments to John the Baptist? Very, very doubtful. Also on the edge of Free Speech.

Now we are going to unequivocally cross the line.

Kill Jews: Clearly over the line. That speech should be banned.

Kill Christians: Clearly over the line. That speech should be banned.

Jews and/or Christians should be arrested/put in camps: Clearly over the line. That speech should be banned.

Jews and/or Christians should have their assets frozen/removed from property: Clearly over the line. That speech should be banned.

There was no holocaust: A flat out lie. That speech should be banned.

Around 6 million Jews died in the Holocaust, that is a historical fact. As a matter of fact, Holocaust Deniers, Sandy Hook Deniers, and Holodomor Deniers should all be tried in a court of law.

Now see, as a corporation, Twitter may set its lines in different places than Beacon of Speech. And, as time evolved, so did Twitter's line.

I just want to be clear, CNN does not fight for free speech. They fight for their version of Free Speech, which is the Global Leftist narrative. They fight for their content to be on Twitter for the Business Model. CNN does not fight for the Right, CNN does not fight for Independent Voices, and CNN does not fight for American Interests.

But, let's be clear, because few social media platforms lean right, CNN is not used to fighting to get onto platforms at all.
